Princess Astrid & Deddy Mizwar Inaugurates Board Fiber Cement Factory in Karawang

KAB. KARAWANG - In a series of visits to West Java, Princess Astrid of Belgium along with Vice Governor of West Java Deddy Mizwar inaugurates plant fiber cement board PT Eternit Gresik in Surya Cipta Industrial Estate in Karawang regency, on Friday (18.03.16). The company is part of the Belgian industrial group, which Etex - which specializes in manufacturing and marketing of banngunan.

In his speech, the Vice Governor of West Java Deddy Mizwar said with the presence of a new factory in Karawang Etex can increase the quality and quantity of the products, so as to have the competitiveness and leverage increased national economy could have an impact on the welfare of people, especially people of West Java.

"With the presence of a new factory in Karawang PT Eternit Gresik is able to contribute in improving the realization of FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) or domestic (Domestic Investment) in West Java in a more optimal," said Deputy Governor in his speech.

"And the further we also hope that the future existence of the new plant PT Eternit Gresik is able to provide multi-player effect wider to the progress of the regional economy, especially related to the opening of employment opportunities for skilled labor in particular those from the West Java region," added Vice Governor.

Etex is present in Indonesia since 1971. The mill is located in Gresik producing building boards Kalsi and Eter roofing sheets for the eastern and central areas of Indonesia.

"Kalsi boards famous for its strength and ketahannya on outdoor weather, collision, termites, moisture and fire. This board is used to pkafon, facades, flooring, partitions, and other applications, "said Wim Messiaen, Managing Director of a local company Etex in Indonesia PT Eternit Gresik.

The factory in Karawang was begun in July 2014 and is the largest investment of the group Etex in 2015. The plant uses several environmentally friendly specifications, such as the production with zero waste, closed water circulation, the use of recycled cellulose fiber as raw material, and the pool of 4,000 m3 of rainwater for purposes of manufacturing processes.
